We still have a few places available for our “Fishing Special – Lake Trout of the Subarctic Tundra”. During this fishing trip, we will criss-cross by floatplane a part of the vastness of the subarctic tundra in the Far North of Quebec. We shall stop to fish for Lake Trout on rivers which are among the wildest on the planet.
At this latitude at the end of June the sun shines nearly 24 hours a day and some lakes are still ice-covered. It’s “the ideal time” of the year to fish near the water surface the big and hungry Lake Trouts of 10 pounds, 15 pounds, 20 pounds and sometimes 30 pounds and even more.
These monsters in period of icy water virtually gulp down everything that moves, from brook trout to arctic char which makes sometimes 20 inches / 40 cm in length, including the small ducks and up to the lemmings… everything goes through.
To break records, lake trout fishing is made with big streamers of 4, 6 and 8 inches / 10, 15 and 20 cm in length. When you will catch a large Lake Trout, you will understand that we are not talking about small fry.
