Your Itinerary

Day 1: Montreal – Kuujjuaq – Barnoin camp. † Upon arrival at Barnoin, the manager-owner will welcome you with a cocktail and an overview of your upcoming itinerary. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 2:  Barnoin – Ungava coast. † After breakfast, we fly out to the site of the bivouac situated not far from the Ungava coast. During this morning flight we follow the coast of Ungava where we try to spot bears and a variety of terrestrial and aquatic animals. Arrived at the site of the bivouac we make a short stop to unload the material for the base camp and we pursue our flight of a few more minutes to reach the site of observation of the fishing polar bears. Free lunch. At the end of the day return to the bivouac site. From mid-August you have the opportunity to observe the Northern Lights dance across the sky. Overnight stay in a bivouac.

Day, 2, 3, 4, 5: Safari in Bivouac. † Early in the morning we fly out the bear observation site. Accompanied with a professional guide you will observe polar bears, which fish, play and sometimes raise their young. This region is also suitable to observe wolves, which also fish occasionally for arctic chars. Osprey and caribous are also regularly seen in the area. At the end of the day return to the bivouac site. It’s now the moment to relax around a campfire, have a great meal and to savour a Labrador Tea. Overnight stay in bivouac and if the sky is clear observe the auroras borealis which dance in the sky.

Day 6: Killineq – The North-East tip of North America. † After breakfast, we pack up and fly out for an air safari to the northeastern tip of North America. Killineq “Land’s End” is a wild region of a great beauty, where the fauna is particularly plentiful. Expect to see at sea, polar bears, grey seal herds, and occasionally whales, walruses and a large variety of sea birds. Overnight stay at Barnoin Ecolodge.

Day 7: Return Trip. Breakfast at the Lodge.

Keep in Mind

During the safari bivouac, you will sleep, most of the time, under the tent. This type of lodging allows you to be closer to nature. However the conditions of accommodation are basic and don’t expect the comfort that you would have in a classic hotel structure. However, if the experience tempts you and that you are ready to live it, you will not be disappointed by the adventure! The suggested tour is a general example and may be modified upon request. The itinerary is flexible based on local conditions and may occasionally occur in reverse order. Bushland flights are often subject to last-minute change depending on weather conditions, in which case the itinerary will be adapted to the best possible alternative. 2% discount for payment by cheque.

The Barnoin River Camp is situated in Arctic Quebec “Nunavik” 1,500 km north of Montreal and 165 km east of Kuujjuaq. Ungava Bay is located less than 40 km north of the camp.  Three (3) km east of Barnoin you’ll find  Kuururjuaq Park and 50 km further to the East the Torngat Mountain National Park of Canada. It’s from Barnoin that you’ll fly out to experience authentic wildlife experiences.
