Arctic char fishing the Koroc River

If your idea of the perfect fly-fishing destination involves breathtaking scenery, crystal clear water, and wild fish, then the Koroc river should be on your list of places to visit. The Koroc is one of those east Ungava rivers that produce annually a phenomenal number of char in the 5 to 8 pound range with an important  number of 10-12 pounders . The second and third week of July match the time when the arctic char are returning to the Ungava Bay.  Arctic char fishing during that period is done with # 8 weight fly fishing outfit and a floating line. Char will take all manner of flies, but they favor weighted, flashy streamers between # 2 and # 8. Experiment with depths and retrieve rates. Dries and nymphs are also occasionally accepted. The trip price per person is 5518.80 $ CAD, TTC.
