Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: Floatplane flight between Barnoin Ecolodge and Nachvak Fjord. †  In the early morning, a floatplane will take you on a spectacular panoramic flight to Nachvak Fjord. Your pilot will land on Nachvak Fjord in the bay of Kogarsok Brook. Near the drop-off site, you will discover the archeological site of the ancient Hudson Bay Company trading post, which operated between 1868 and 1905. Near the archeological site, you will find ruins of former Eskimo camps. Overnight stay under the tent.

Days 3 to 8: Nachvak exploration. † The route follows the magnificent Nachvak Fjord, which penetrates to the heart of the Torngat Mountains. With its history, former civilizations and extraordinary landscapes, Nachvak is really an open-air museum. At Nachvak there is evidence of occupation by the Maritime Archaic Indians, Pre-Dorset and Dorset Paleo-eskimos, and the Thule culture that merged into modern day Inuit. These sites, which include tent rings, stone caribou fences, food caches, and burial sites, tell the story of the people and cultures that have made this special part of Canada their home over the millennia. All along the route, which could vary from 70 to 150 km between the Labrador coast and Nachvak Lake by way of Tallek and Tasiuyak Arms, you will follow the shoreline to discover the wild beauty of the fjord through its inuksuk (Eskimo stone monuments) graves, bones and the ruins of ancient Eskimo villages. The geological formations that you will see throughout this journey are absolutely remarkable. At night, watch the aurora borealis. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 9: Afternoon return flight to Barnoin Ecolodge. † Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 10: Return trip. † Breakfast at the lodge.
