Day 1: Arrival at Rapid Lake. Upon arrival at Rapid Lake, the manager-owner will welcome you with a cocktail, followed by emission of fishing licenses and a presentation of your upcoming itinerary. In the afternoon, you are free to fish. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 2: Arctic Char Fishing Excursion. Escape for a day of fishing, flying over a magnificent tundra landscape of lakes and rivers as far as the eye can see. Stop on one of our rivers along the Ungava coast and fish for the migratory Arctic char. For your evening meal, enjoy some of your day’s catch, smoked, BBQ or sushi style. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Air safari at the continent “Land’s End”. Renowned for its landscapes of the end of the world, the Northeast extremity of North America is a real lunar region. En-route, you will overfly polar bears, whales, icebergs, reversing falls… For the lunch, stop on a lake in overhang of a fjord and go for a short hike on the bare summits of the Arctic tundra. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Visit to the Mystifying Ghost Town of Hebron Fly out towards the Labrador Sea to discover the mysteries of Hebron. Upon arrival at Hebron Fjord Lake 5, stop to experience the magnificent fjord scenery. Marvel at the remarkable rock walls and listen to the roaring waterfalls. Follow your route along the fjord to the ghost town of Hebron and admire the amazing landscape of rock walls, waterfalls, rocky shores, mountains, the ocean and icebergs. Upon arrival at Hebron, absorb yourself in artefacts the Moravian missionaries left behind after coming here from Germany. Overnight stay at Rapid Lake/Barnoin Camp.
Day 5: Arctic Char and trout fishing. Take advantage of this last day to fish for arctic char, brook trout or lake trout in the best rivers of Ungava. For the evening meal, savors some of your catch of the day; smokes / BBQ / sushi. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 6: Return trip. Breakfast at the lodge.
The suggested tour is a general example and may be modified upon request. The variety of fishing grounds enables us to target the best times to fish based on the desired species. Aviation fuel service is available upon request. Bushland flights are often subject to last-minute change depending on weather conditions, in which case the itinerary will be adapted to the best possible alternative. 2% discount for payment by cheque.
Rapid Lake Lodge is situated in Arctic Quebec in the remote subarctic tundra, 1,400 km from Montreal and 150 km southeast of Kuujjuaq and 297 km north of Schefferville. The lodge is charming and cosy, constructed completely by hand with round timber. All lodgings are equipped with modern conveniences and provide daily maid service. This region is particularly renown for its rivers and exceptional fishing quality.
